Team Chimera is a family team, bringing together 3 generations of the same family to construct fighting robots. All four members bring their own specialisms to the team that complement each other as detailed below:
Jordan Mann – Team Captain and Driver (aka ‘The Boss’)
Jordan is the driving force of the team and has been a massive fan of all things robotic and Robot Wars for at least the last 10 years. Jordan is currently studying Electrical Engineering at Bolton College where he is able to further his knowledge of electronics to come up with new ideas for the robots we build.
Mark Rollins-Mann (aka ‘The Reader’)
Mark is the compliance and paperwork member of the team, responsible for ensuring that the robot(s) and team are compliant with the required entry rules of events. Mark is the Quality Manager for Stroma Certification and whilst he has limited technical skills he makes up for this with his love of paperwork.
Philip Mann (aka ‘Wheels’)
Philip provides construction and technical knowledge to the building and maintenance of the robots, as well as providing much-needed transportation of the robots to events. Philip is a primary school teacher and BriSCA Formula 2 Stock Car racing driver, and many of the parts of Chimera have been donated from his stock car.
Phil Mann (aka ‘The Hammer’)
Phil is responsible for the construction of the robot, undertaking all the welding and fabrication himself. Phil has recently retired from Mercedes, and brings engineering expertise to convert Jordan’s paper designs into something that is practical for a fighting robot. Without his time and effort, Chimera would not be where it is today.
All four members of team have a strong family bond, including the support of their respective partners.
