Mini-Mera is a smaller Featherweight version of the Heavyweight Chimera, and has been built with a steel body and powered by 2x 12v drill motors. The weapon is a shaft with 3 spikes on the end that will cause damage by rotating on the spot or coming down on another robot.
We have recycled the wheels that came with the wheelchair motors that power Chimera, and they work a treat for this Mini-Mera.
Mini-Mera had its first competitive battle at the Robot Wars Live event in Manchester 2016, where it amazed us with its high speed spinning.
Mini-Mera is currently undergoing a refurb in order to chain drive off the motors to the wheels in order to remove the stress the spinning causes and to prevent the motors burning out. It will be ready for later in 2016.
